Day 2: Restorative

Lecture (4 hours)

• Understand several impression techniques and when to use them (for examples, open vs. closed tray technique)
• Understand abutment selection and functional design
• Understand the application of immediate provisionalization
• Comprehend the importance of tissue management
• Understand custom tissue formers (chair-side vs. lab)
• Learn how to create a custom impression coping
• Understand transmucosal abutments and when to use them in the restoration process
• Comprehend the principles of overdenture treatment planning
• Understand edentulous patient implant restorations and the requirements for vertical dimension

Hands-on (4 hours)

• Hands-on model demonstrations: open and closed tray impression techniques, temporary abutment and crown fabrication, abutment selection and placement process, and more

Day 1-2: Team Training

Lecture (10 hours)

• Learn to identify the basic components of an implant and implant restoration
• Understand the history and evolution of implants
• Learn how to differentiate between supra-crestal, equi-crestal, and subcrestal implants
• Understand the long-term success of subcrestal implants and what makes them so successful
• Understand how and why implant planning centered around the best restorative outcome leads to superior esthetics
• Understand how to set up an operatory for atraumatic extractions, immediate implant surgery, and guided implant surgery
• Learn how to utilize an aseptic technique to create and maintain a sterile field
• Comprehend sterilization guidelines for implant systems, guides, and restorative components
• Understand how to support the doctor when performing an atraumatic extraction, immediate and guided implant surgery
• Understand how to teach patients and fellow team members about implant placement and restorations
• Learn how to answer patients’ mostly commonly asked questions about implant surgery and tooth extraction
• Learn how to schedule time for implant placement and restorations in your practice
• Identify codes used in implant therapy for treatment planning with your patients
• Learn how to identify and utilize implant system restorative components

Day 1-2: Team Training

Hands-on (6 hours)

• Learn how and when to use open and closed tray impression techniques
• Learn how to create an aseptic operatory setup
• Identify the parts and pieces to a guided and immediate implant surgical kit
• Identify the instrumentation in a surgical kit to complete atraumatic extractions and socket preservation
• Understand how to go through a guided implant drilling sequence on a model
• Learn how to set up and utilize an implant motor
• Hands-on model work with all the restorative parts and pieces of different types of implant restorations including implant bridges, screw retained crowns, cement retained crowns, and restorations utilizing variable base abutments and locator attachments

Frequently Asked Questions

I see that Core Series 1 and 2 include online modules. Do I need to complete these?

Yes. In order to receive CE credits, you must complete the online modules and answer the questions in the quizzes.

When should I complete the Core Series 1 and 2 online modules?

You’ll receive access to the online modules via email two weeks prior to the start of the course. You can start the modules as soon as you receive them; you must complete them by prior to the start of the series.

Can I attend Core Series 3 without attending Series 1 and 2 first?

No. Attendees are required to attend Core Series 1 and 2 before they can attend Series 3.

Can I bring my team members with me to the series?

If you register for Core Series 1-3 you can bring up to two team members to Core Series 2 for free. Core Series 2 includes a team training component.
